Marist Girls SoccerJune 17, 2009

Dear new/returning player,

Thank you for your interest in our soccer program. We want to inform you of important upcoming dates regarding open gyms, camps, tournaments, and tryouts as we prepare for the 2009 season.

GEORGE WALCOTT'S WORKOUT: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 8:00 to 10:00 AM. Speed, agility, fitness - this is great for getting into soccer shape. I will be there on Monday and Wednesday at the 9-10:00 workout sessions. Weight sessions for female athletes with Coach Tucker on Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 to 9:00 AM and 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The last day of George's workout is July 22.

KICK AROUND: Wednesday and Friday, 4:30 to 6:00 PM. (No Kick Around on Friday, June 26.) We have been working on technical skills and scrimmages, great ways to get to know new players and reconnect with your teammates while improving your touches on the ball. The sessions will go from June-July 1, then July 15-31. I will be on vacation from the 5th-12th. We resume on August 12 and 14 - these sessions will be led by some returning seniors.

Little Spartan Soccer Camp- August 18-21 from 8:00 AM to noon This camp is designed for K-8 players and we would love to have returning players assist the coaches. Registration fliers are now available on the Marist Summer Sports Camps page.

CONDITIONING CAMP - August 18-21: Speed, agility and technical training. There is a $50 fee.

DAILY DOUBLES starts August 24 - 2 sessions:

  • 8:00-10:00 AM

  • 3:00-5:00 PM (a change from the original time of 2:00-4:00 PM)

Please bring running shoes, cleats, shin guards and water to each session. Also, you must have the "gold form" turned in before participation. The form can be downloaded by clicking HERE.

JV/VARSITY JAMBOREE-MANDATORY- Sept. 3 More information to come.

I do hope that you will take advantage of these opportunities to get fit (or maintain your fitness level) and get touches on the ball. Remember, you should be fit before daily doubles so as to avoid injuries. Also, we will be playing against stronger competition in the fall, so it would be advantageous to keep our soccer skills sharp, especially if you are currently not playing on any team.

Please feel free to contact me at 521-3536 or e-mail at jjkonyn@hotmail.com.

I hope to see you at George's workout sessions and the "kick around." OUR SEASON BEGINS NOW!
